Happy Daylight Savings to all my US friends, this means we are officially 16 hours apart and you gained an hour of sleep! This week was another long one but of course, another fun one.

Monday was VERY hot. At 91 degrees I felt like I was melting in the sun. I still braved the heat to go to the botanical gardens though since I hadn't been yet. It was beautiful but I forgot to take pictures for you all. I promise I will make it back there at some point so I can post some pictures. I want to go back anyway because I heard that Mrs. Macquarie's chair is breathtaking at sunset.
Later that night, I had the fancy dinner that my team got for winning the scavenger hunt that I wrote about it I think my very first blog post. We went to Jamie Oliver's restaurant (apparently he's a really popular chef, but I had never heard of him) and the food was AMAZING. Ash came out to eat with us and we got 2 bottles of wine for the table, a bunch of delicious appetizers, and a main meal for all of us. I got ravioli and it was incredible, I'm still thinking about it a week later. If anyone who is coming to Sydney next semester is reading this, you should try to win the scavenger hunt, I recommend it. After dinner, we walked to Gelato Messina. It's supposed to be one of the best gelato places in Sydney, and honestly so far it has been.

On Tuesday, I woke up early before work to go for a much-needed run. I ran around Darling Harbour and then went home to shower and change before making the walk to PwC. That night, we had a program Halloween party at a bar up the street. There were some really cool costumes that I saw, and we got some good food, free drinks, and some Halloween candy. I dressed up as Darla from Finding Nemo using clothes from MG's closet, my closet, some tinfoil, a print out Nemo and logo, a plastic bag, and some water. I think it was the cheapest costume ever but it was also pretty good in my opinion. I was featured on some Snap stories, but I didn't win the costume contest. The winners deserved it though, their costumes were awesome.
I think on Wednesday everyone was exhausted from the beginning of the week, so after work and finishing our essays, we just watched This Is Us as a room and then went to bed. Thursday was similar because we had class after work, but that didn't stop Emily and I from stopping for drinks on our way home. After class, I went for a short run with Amy and then we went out to a bar for a bit for our friend's birthday.
On Friday, I was on my own at work because Emily left for Uluru with her mom. It was a long day without her, but after work I got invited to get drinks with my co-workers to celebrate one of the new employees in the Sydney office. When I got home I was beyond exhausted and I stayed in and just hung out with friends in the program instead of going out. I'm glad I did that, I needed to sleep well that night.
This weekend turned out to be rainy, but it was a nice change from the constant sun that is usually here. Saturday was an interesting day. After the gym, MG and I had plans to meet at this Avocado pop up restaurant in Surry Hills. Basically it is a restaurant that is only there for a month and every item on the menu has avocado in it. It sounded really good (and super stereotypical of millennials i know i know) so we decided to meet there. I left my apartment at 1pm, and got there around 1:20pm MG was running a bit late, so I put our name down around 1:45pm since there was a 45 minute wait. MG got there eventually and an HOUR AND 10 MINUTES after I got there, we were finally seated.
We sat down and spent about 20 minutes waiting for someone to come and take our orders which we had ready from the moment we sat down since we had been staring at a menu as we waited to be seated. We finally got our orders in around 3:15. At this point, I'm starving because I hadn't eaten since lunch the day before. About 15 minutes later, a waitress comes over to confirm our order, which she had wrong, and then she went back to the kitchen. Another 10 minutes passes, and a different waitress comes over and does the exact same thing. Finally, the first waitress comes over and apologized profusely because our orders never got put in, so our food hadn't even been started on yet. She offered to either put in our food and get it out for us in the next 15 minutes, or give us free smoothies. We thought she would do both, so we ordered smoothies to tide us over until we got our food. Now its about 4pm, and I have been at this restaurant for 2 hours and 30 minutes, and then they came out with smoothies and said that if we ever wanted to come back to let them know. So yes, you read that right, we didn't even GET FOOD.
At this point, we are about to pass out, so we took our smoothies, found a bar, and ordered potato wedges. Almost nothing else was open because it was that awkward time between lunch and dinner where restaurants close a lot. We picked out a place and planned to get there at 5pm. We went to this place called Bad Hombres, which was a super interesting Chinese Mexican fusion place. The food there was amazing, which was great because I was so hungry. We got home around 6pm, which means that I spent FIVE HOURS just trying to get food. What a DAY. We ended up eating really yummy food though so no complaints here.

Sunday, thankfully, was a bit less frustrating. I was on my own since a lot of my friends were in a class that had a field trip. So I made the decision to go and get a tattoo! I got "Love," in my uncle's handwriting from a card he wrote me before he passed away when I was a junior in high school. He loved being in Australia so it felt appropriate for me to get it here too. It didn't hurt much to get it and it took about 5 minutes as well, so it was relatively quick and painless. I really like it so far and I have no regrets about getting it, and I even told my parents and they weren't upset, although I think I really shocked my sister.
Overall, it was a great week as they usually are here and it's time to start a new one :) There's only a month left in the program and I plan to try to make the most of it!
