Professional Experience
YouthBuild VISTA, Mile high youth corps
August 2020 - present
I serve at Mile High Youth Corps on the YouthBuild team, an AmeriCorps program for adults 18-24 who did not complete high school and are enrolled to study for and earn their GED while simultaneously receiving job training and leadership and career readiness training. In this role I am focused on Alumni Engagement for the organization and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) work as well. For Alumni Engagement, I co-lead the Alumni Council, and also just launched a Life After YouthBuild group for our YouthBuild Alumni. In this group we meet and discuss topics that they are interested in (i.e. post-secondary education planning, job applications, time management, etc.). In my role with DEI, I co-lead an affinity group for staff members, am on a committee to help design and implement a DEI curriculum for Corpsmembers, and pull together quarterly resources for staff members to continue their DEI education and discussion.

I was nominated amongst 75 peers to serve as a direct liaison to major donors who support City Year Denver. Engage in consistent professional communications and events to recognize, thank, and build a growing network of advocates for City Year Denver.

Empowerment league program manager, Boston university community service center

At the CSC I worked with my three co-program managers to coordinate volunteer opportunities across the Greater Boston Area having to do with focus areas such as sustainability, public health, human rights, language education, and housing. Additionally we planned monthly educational events at Boston University for students and volunteers to attend. We also worked hard to recruit volunteers for the various opportunities we have set up.
outreach and volunteer engagement intern, AARP
September 2018 - December 2018
At AARP I worked closely with management and my co-workers to work on inter-departmental office projects in a siloed office environment. Additionally, I created content for the Livable Community campaign which boosted organic engagement on AARP's social networks. I also connected 50+ work to intersectional messaging in order to show benefits for all ages and abilities to expand AARP normal reach.

As a Membership Intern, I am responsible for answering phones, responding to emails, and generally just making sure that the donors of WBUR are satisfied. I do a lot of work in our membership database, Allegiance, inputting information and resolving membership issues.
Assistant Career coach, jvs Boston
January 2018 - May 2018
During my time at JVS, I met so many incredible people with insane stories from all over the world. The refugees I worked with were all looking for jobs in the Boston area. My job entailed helping them with resume editing, interview preparation, and job applications.
Campus relationship intern, pwc australia
October 2017 - December 2017
At PwC Australia, I worked with one other American intern and the Campus Relationship Team very closely. We worked hard to recruit vacationers and graduates to fill positions across all the teams at PwC. I was able to sit in on hiring meetings discussing various candidates and their strengths and weaknesses. Additionally I co-led an assessment center with the other intern, gave multiple office tours of the 5-floor space, and made calls to remind candidates of upcoming deadlines. I also did some work for the social media director writing copy and taking photos for Facebook (48,029 followers) and Instagram (3,469 followers). I also learned so much about a new work culture in a country other than the US which I found fascinating.
Communications & pr intern, school the world
May 2017 - August 2017
At School the World, I contributed ideas and wrote posts for the blog while also handling preparations for the July service trip including flights, medical insurance, and the itinerary. Additionally, I worked closely with the founder and other interns to prepare for the big summer fundraiser including organizing a silent auction and raffle, securing donations, and coordinating a visit from a boy from Guatemala.

During my summer with Theatre Projects, I handled rebranding all materials for the company and writing blog posts on projects they were involved with. In the winter, I helped plan the winter office party which took place at the Copacabana and celebrated the 50th anniversary of the company's beginning.
Activities & Leadership
Peer mentor, First year experience
September 2018 - December 2018
In fall 2018, I co-led a class of first-year students at BU with another peer mentor and an instructor. Our classes covered resources on campus like study abroad, student health services, and the career center and things like empathy, storytelling, and values. I taught my own lesson on study abroad in November and then led an excursion with the class in December to the SoWa Holiday Market. Through the program, I also took a class with all the other peer mentors where we learned our PEAS: problem solving, empathy, active listening, and self-awareness.
First year student outreach project
2015 & 2018
As a freshman at BU i participated in FYSOP as a volunteer and spent a week before classes started volunteering around the Boston area in the gender & sexuality focus area. As a group, we visited a women's shelter, Boston GLASS, and The Hispanic Black Gay Coalition. As a senior, I came full circle and applied to be a staff leader and instead spent a week in training and then a week leading a group of first year students around Boston to volunteer at a variety of non-profits like Spontaneous Celebrations, Small World, and Community Servings. After service, myself and my co-staff led in depth reflections with the students.
alternative service breaks
March 2016, 2017, 2018, & 2019
After falling in love with the Community Service Center after participating in FYSOP my freshman year, I decided to go on Alternative Service Breaks (ASB) for my spring break. I traveled to Greenville, SC with other BU students and volunteered at the Frazee Dream Center. My sophomore year I applied and was chosen to co-coordinate the trip to San Francisco, CA to work with The Garden Project. Junior year I chose to go on a trip to Des Moines, IA and work with the Iowa Youth Homeless Shelter. Finally, for my last spring break, I plan to travel to Shawnee, IL to work with Friends of the Shawnee National Forest. This program has been a huge part of my college experience and I am so excited to spend one last spring break on ASB!
delta delta delta fraternity alpha chapter
September 2018 - December 2018
I joined Tri Delta my freshman year hoping to find community on what was a huge campus with thousands of students. Not only did I find a community, I met some of my best friends. I also was fortunate enough to have some leadership positions. In spring 2017, I became Sponsorship Chair. I organized events for the chapter, ensured that sponsors were matched with new members appropriately, and attended weekly officer's council meetings. Then for 2018, I was the Vice President of Chapter Development which meant that I facilitated and educated members on ritual, led a team of officers, ran a committee called standards to support members in any way that I could, and I planned events to strengthen bonds between members. I loved this position, and I am excited to take what I learned and apply it to my career in the future.
Public relations student society of america
September 2015 - May 2018
Through PRSSA, I discovered my passion for communications. Each week we would have a new professional come in and tell us about their careers. After a year of being a member I applied to plan our 2017 regional conference and became Director of Sponsorship. This meant that I was in charge of networking with industry professionals and securing donations to facilitate the events' progress. When my team and I finished, our conference doubled attendance and tripled sponsors from the previous year.
